Noooooo! I hate watching NFL highlights and being interrupted by hockey recaps. I’m hopeful that my sharks won’t play until late February or later. Have a 16 game season and see where the chips fall. Works in the NFL so why can’t it work in hockey? Go sharks baby!

Hey! blomfeld, stick around. I’m hanging on by a thread still desperately hoping the idiot players will accept whatever is on the table plus or minus a few million so they minimize their loses. I’m hoping the next axe to fall will be Friday, with no more than another week cancelled, which could allow for the season to start Dec 20. It’s in the players hands, and I hope those are soft hands of a goal scorer as opposed to cement hands of say George Parros.

Joey, Jim and friends …
As you know, I’ve been convinced from the very start that this entire business is by “design” and that we will have a season in the end. That being said however, I honestly didn’t think that Bettman would dare take it this far, as he’s now skating on “thin ice” … no pun intended ! Nonetheless, something is “definitely” going down right now and this scheduled Board of Govenor’s meeting tomorrow sure seems coincidental eh ? (ie: in fact, I wasn’t even aware that they meet “bi anually” every year in June and December ?) Anyway, “now” is the time if something is going to happen and I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that it finally will. Your theory Joey about Bettman using last year’s “contrived” NBA impasse as a template, makes more and more sense all the time … especially when you consider the fact that the same law firm is involved, etc. So let’s see friends what transpires now over the next 48 hours, as with any luck this could finally be it !

ps Joey – ignore the serpents here at PHT, who are as predictable as they are ugly, with the jealous “venom” that they’re inclined to constantly spew !

ps Bcjim – hey man, I just took my irons in to get re-gripped today … and I selected this fancy-styled “thick” leather type of grip … so I’ve now got a feeling that I could be going “scary” low next year !

It’s nice to have a players perspective who is no longer a player like many of those above who were part of the previous 1-2 lockouts. Hopefully they can empathize with the players having been there and help them understand. Because we all know some of these players today will be GM’s and partial owners in 10-20 years anyway and they’ll be singing the owners tune at that time.

Sources tell me the owners/players are breaking for diner and talks will resume later. They key contributing owners are Tannenbaum and Burkle. Lemieux is in the house with Geoff Molson, Pat Brisoon, Luc Robitaille, Bergevin, Shanahan, Daly etc…

Pretending the elephant in the room is not there is not going to get a deal done. Doesn’t matter if you like him, he’s still a party to the negotiations and apparently a very influential one. Scumbag or not, if he’s really calling the shots and is not involved why bother? Might as well be sending in the Zamboni drivers to negotiate in that case.

I mean really, if “driving forces” are supposed to be here, then bring on Everyone. This meeting was supposed to be different. Having the “driving force” present does NOTHING but wastes people time.

Having Jacobs there is absolutely no different that having weasel there.
And look no Dolan there? That’s a real shocker

This is another garbage PR stunt where the owners send it Jacobs and a bunch of yes men who won’t say anything to rock the boat or offer anything different.

If Jacobs is there then bring on Daly and the weasel, and if they are going to be there then Fehr should be there and then….what’s the point.

Yup Ill stick by my original assessment that having Jacobs there serves no purpose other than to make sure this meeting goes nowhere.

Calgary is represented by the third player on the list Mike Cammalleri. Kind of surprised they wouldn’t have had Iginla there, he would seem like a natural choice since he’s well respected around the league by both players and management.

like I posted in the new thread, I’m not too optimistic anymore. Gary Bettman and the NHL have taken greed to a whole other level. It’s to the point where my kids are asking questions I can no longer answer. I also just wanted to let everyone know that I’m doing fantastic without NHL. I hook up my computer to my TV and watch hockey on the big screen every Friday and Sat. night… and its all due to America One Sports online where you can watch any College, CHL, or ECHL games + many more! I am obviously a diehard of minor league hockey, and I can honestly say this is the most talent stacked ECHL I’ve ever seen! Go Komets!!!

If Jacobs is supposedly the driving force behind the lockout he absolutely needs to be there. Either the players need to understand what they are dealing with and know that this is THE offer they are getting or the other owners need to understand that this is their pied piper, no deal is getting done and be ready to follow him off the cliff. Like it or not, he is part of the process and not including him in the meeting turns it into even more of a dog and pony show. At least having him there makes it possible for a breakthrough – either the other owners break ranks or the players accept what is being offered.
