Derek Roy (shoulder) to skate with AHL Texas next week

Dec 4, 2012, 11:03 AM EST

Stars forward Derek Roy is close to fully recovered from shoulder surgery and is expected to practice with AHL Texas next week, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Roy was traded from Buffalo in July. The diminutive 29-year-old has one year remaining on his contract, with a cap hit of $4 million.

He also has a pretty sweet ride, which he recently tweeted about in a savvy PR move on behalf of the beleaguered players.
