Getty Images If Vincent Lecavalier‘s positive comments about Jeff Vinik are any indication, the lockout hasn’t fractured every single player-owner relationship in the NHL.
The Tampa Bay Lightning’s highest paid player told Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times that he’s glad the team’s owner will take part in Wednesday’s players-owners CBA meeting.
“I’m happy he’s going,” Lecavalier said. “He’s a guy who will listen and talk and have a conversation and see where things go.”
“A guy like Mr. Vinik who listens well, I think it’s going to help the process.”
As far as the process itself, Lecavalier didn’t seem excessively optimistic, but he did say “at least we’re trying to do something to get things going.”
Cristodero reports that fellow Lightning veteran Martin St. Louis hopes to be one of the players involved in that meeting, but it’s likely we won’t find out who will be named until Tuesday.
