PHT Morning Skate: Catching up with Gomez

Dec 2, 2012, 9:00 AM EDT

Scott Gomez AP

PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Hey look, Chris Pronger‘s brother Sean wrote a book. (

Joe Pelletier discusses Jack Walker, one of the earliest defensive forwards who created a “one-man neutral zone trap.” (Greatest Hockey Legends)

The Grand Rapids Griffins take Donald Fehr and Gary Bettman fighting quite literally in this promotion. (Puck Daddy)

Want to know how Scott Gomez is doing in a league where people (probably) don’t obsess about his NHL salary? Well, if not, there are plenty of other Montreal Canadiens overseas notes to consider, too. (Habs Eyes on the Prize)

Cory Schneider had a rather explosive press conference recently. (Vancouver Sun)

Reflecting on the career of Pete Mahovlich, whose nickname amazingly wasn’t “Pistol.” (Detroit Free Press)

Wow, Rick Tocchet really looked different in 1992-93, when he scored a career-high 109 points with the Pittsburgh Penguins. (Empty Netters)

Apparently Dan Bylsma was “destined” to become an NHL head coach. Not sure if lucky Qdoba burritos were predestined or not, though. (

have they cancelled the season yet!?!?

    • zetaone - Dec 2, 2012 at 1:44 PM

You post on nearly every article whether it’s about the lockout or not, only saying to cancel the season.

Quit trolling. Stop pretending like you don’t want to see a season you immature buffoon.

first off, apparently you have NOT seen all of my posts then.only recently do i say cancel the season.
secondly,i DO NOT want to see a 40 to 50 game season.that would be a joke and the winning team would not deserve to have their names put upon Lord Stanley, when all of the other players had to play a full season and earned it.

At least the Canadiens are not paying this guy $7m to be a fourth liner. lol

    • valoisvipers - Dec 2, 2012 at 1:05 PM

Not a very effective fourth liner either. He would sign the deal today thats for sure.
