obviously, the gentleman from Vancouver doesn’t quite get what these negotiations are all about- and obviously he is from a hockey town whose fans burn down their own city in celebration of their precious Canucks LOSING the Stanley Cup on home ice so go figure why he doesn’t get it…grab a quarter, buy some IQ at a point per cent and double your IQ total you clueless waste of human flesh…oh, and leave commenting to people who actually understand hockey, not guys like you who celebrate losing

My feeling is that the players will only use decertification after the owners cancel the season. I don’t think the players want the owners to be able to tell the fans that decertification was the reason the season was lost. Once the 2012-13 campaign is shutdown completely, then the lawyers will take over for 6 months or so. Like the NFL, litigation will be settled with a new CBA and everyone will then cross their fingers that the fans come back.

As much as I hate to admit it, I do believe the season will be cancelled if no deal is made by Jan. I prefer being in denial though. My optimism is dwindling.

I concur. It makes NO common sense. You have to understand the players are living in a bubble. The league they play in, is losing money. They can’t comprehend the financial idea, that you bring in (make) 50 million dollars, your expenses are 55 million dollars, that you’re losing money. Only the original six teams are making any decent money. That’s a serious problem, that’s reality. This “make whole provision” is just another obnoxious stand by the NHLPA. They want it Guaranteed! There’s only three guarantees in life, it’s life, death, and taxes. The maturity level of these players is just mind-bogging.

As lifelong NHL fan, cancel the season after January 1, 2013. Where’s Blomfeld?

Decertification will lead to an NFL type of CBA. No guarantee contracts. Kiss this season goodbye, along with part of next year’s. If you’re lucky.

All the old CBA items (healthcare, pension, player stipends, etc.) become part of the new CBA negotiations. They all have to be bargained for again. There NOT an automatic given.

It’s a full reset. Anti-trust cases can take typically 2-3 years to settle. Who can afford to lose a couple years of salary?

Also, 4 to 6 teams will be eliminated. The defunct team owners will just take a capital loss, receive a tax breaks.
