jernster21, playing hockey constitutes as training to play hockey. Duh!

“If a player can’t pass a physical as a result of a non-hockey related injury then the club has the right to suspend the player. The suspension ends once he’s able to pass the physical and is set to play. He hasn’t been cleared for contact and probably won’t be for approximately another month.”

Sadly, if there is a season, this won’t be the last story similar to this. There has been plenty of dinged up guys coming back from playing over seas – if the season starts and these guys can’t play, they too will be suspended. As long as they have insurance it’s not that big of a deal financially, but the pissing off the higher ups as a result will be a different story. Should be interesting if it does play out like that, or the owners will just tank the season to avoid it, who knows…
