Flames defenseman Chris Butler has agreed to a lockout deal with Allsvenskan club Karlskrona, according to the team website.

Butler, 26, was Buffalo’s fourth-round draft pick at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and was shipped to Calgary as part of last year’s Robyn Regehr trade.

In his first season with the Flames, Butler played in a career-high 68 games while scoring 2G-3A-15PTS. He finished third on the team in average time on ice per game (21:36) and represented Team USA at the 2012 World Hockey Championships.

With Karlskrona, Butler will become just the latest locked-out NHLer to ply his trade in the Swedish second division. The Allsvenskan is currently home to the likes of Bobby Ryan, Cam Fowler, Carl Gunnarson, Patric Hornqvist, Anze Kopitar, Nicklas Grossman, Patrik Berglund, Matt Read and others.
