You are talking about a league that lasted all of eight years, that never fielded more than six teams at any given time, and had several legal disputes between teams for almost the entire eight-year period.

Given the fact that the NHA started over 100 years ago, and disbanded 95 years ago with four teams ordering the disbandment of the fifth team, is an unrealistic comparison to today's NHL, which has lasted 95 years and now has 30 teams, each of which is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Meanwhile, back in 1917: Unable to resolve disputes with Eddie Livingstone, owner of the Toronto Blueshirts, the other ice hockey clubs of Canada's National Hockey Association officially agreed to leave that sports league and to form a new one: the National Hockey League.

Perhaps a form of this needs to take place this year.
