The NFLPA had a CBA signed 22 days after they decertified. It can be worth it.

I hope they decertify just to cause more headaches for Bettman and the owners. I’m already pulling for the season to be cancelled. It’s tainted at this point anyway with all the ugliness. But might as well make the most of it by humiliating Bettman and destroying his reputation even more.

Thanks for the entertainment The decertification talk that the players are expressing right now is just another example of the ignorance of the players.

Yeah, you can do anything you want. Once they decertify the union, you can kiss the season goodbye and next year the league will field only 24 teams. Thus, eliminating about 6 teams and appropriately 160 player jobs.

Is that a victory?

A contract is still a contract, union or no union. Unless you got a senile old judge on a federal bench (USA or Canada), every player is not going to be declared as a UFO.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing the same way and expecting different results. Once you’re on the back side of the season with no deal in sight, at what point do you decided on a different strategy? De-certification, or at least the legitimate threat, may be exactly what is needed to get certain people off their asses.

Even if Daly decides to stand pat, and the players go ahead and vote to de-certify, losing the season would allow a complete reworking of a dysfunctional system. Whatever it is they’re doing right now sure as hell isn’t working and the end result, a lost season, will be the same.

it was just stating that there are a multitude of routes that the players could take. not that everything that they listed would happen all in the same time. basically saying that decertifing would most likely be a total gong show and a sh$t show of chaos. i hope they get something figured out soon, but i really don’t have any faith that it will. before thanksgiving i was mad but still thought they’d save something of a season, but i dont think so now. gary and the owners have showed nary a hint of forward thinking, so there’s no reason to believe they’ll do anything other than can the season. i truly believe its up to the players, if they want to play they’ll bend even more and we’ll have a season. it would totally not surprise me to see the players go “okay gary we’ll bend and sign your deal” only to have him go “AH HA!!!! now that you agreed to that i’m gonna want even more!!!!!” this is his league now. jacobs carries alot of weight, but if gary thought this was bad for hockey he wouldn’t do it. thats why he thinks this is the only way that they nhl can go and he’ll ride this sinking ship all the way downnnnnn….

They say…The advantages of going this route is … well, all-around chaos, that could seemingly result in every player becoming immediate unrestricted free agents; players could sue the league for collusion, damages and back wages to honor existing contracts, etc.
Now if they have to honor contracts then how would they be immediate free agents if they are under the contract that are enforcing the owners to honor. Two way street those contracts, both parties signed, both are on the same hook.
