you didn’t break any news. i’m sure you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, telling yourself that you did, but you didn’t. the league had already said that more cancellations were coming, and many real reporters had said that it would be the early part of december that was lost next. the league simply followed through on their word (for once).

Willi – From day one I asserted that an agreement would materialize during the week of Nov 5 -10. Well sure enough “something” almost did happen that week, but it wasn’t an agreement in the end and so here we are. In going forward now, I have no idea what’s going to happen and it doesn’t look good at all. And yet I still retain optimism that these fools aren’t going to actually blow the whole thing up and themselves in the process. So “false hope” perhaps, but definitely no “inside information” on my part, I can assure you. The way I see it, they have to make a deal now within the next two weeks. Beyond that, there simply won’t be enough time left to make any kind of a reasonable season from, as I don’t think a 48 game schedule will fly like previous ?

Blomy, your “any day now” bit is getting old. You did it both before AND after the Winter Classic was cancelled. You did it earlier this month numerous times. Now you’re doing it as the All Star game has been cancelled. I want hockey too, but what about the less than good news from the last two weeks leads you to honestly say something “should be happening now pretty soon”? False hope and fake insider info helps nobody.

Guys, Daly is right. The bottom line here, and I’ve said this before, it’s up to the players to put pressure on Fehr to get the deal made.

jaybird – we’re now only 43 x days past the original Oct 11 start date of the season … so you’re hardly going to through an institution which is close to 100 years old out the window because of that ! … look for these phonies to announce an agreement here shortly … our learned friend Id4joey has been saying all along that they’re likely using the NBA formula from last year as their template … that means that something should be happening now pretty soon …

So NHL has moved miles and NHLPA inches? NHL is moving upwards and the ‘PA is moving downwards. Players stand to lose huge amount of revenue, most of their contract rights and still that’s considered as inches?

I really hope the ‘PA does the decertify because in all honesty, after that last ‘PA proposal was completely rejected, this season is already lost. I mean NHL has already cancelled the Winter Classic, All-Star weekend and most of the schedule.

At the start NHL wanted these talks to be similar as NBA and NFL ones, so ‘PA decertifying would propably lead to the same outcome. This lockout is just 2 sides playing hardball at the expenses of players, fans and owners. Nobody is going to win anything from this.
