I would submit that a key reason for Semin and others (Kane) to find themselves struggling over there in the KHL, is due to the larger ice surface. They’re having to adjust to covering that much more ground than what they’re used to and I suspect that it probably isn’t easy ? … at least not in the short term.

Anyway, I know it probably will never happen, but I do wish that the NHL would adopt the International-sized rink dimensions. Our game today often resembles a pinball machine, such is the speed and size of NHL players today going “at it” on a rink surface that was designed in the late 1800′s. Again it’s bloody “greed” that prevents this from happening, which is truly a shame. More ice surface would equate to freer flow and more emphasis on technique and skill. There would also be less likelihood for injury and it would “aesthetically” make for a superior product to watch.
