I don't know, Marleau and Thornton made the team and Super Joe's clutcher than the pair combined. Could've replaced Brendan Morrow at least.

But hey, Joe's always been a humble guy.

Speaking of the Olympics, Sakic was the hands down MVP of the 2002 Gold Medal game, and of that whole tournament. He may never have played better hockey than he played in Salt Lake City.

I had the honor of working at the arena in Colorado the year the Av's moved to Colorado and won their first cup. In that time I actually got to know Joe Sakic personally on a basic level and have to say he is one of the classiest guys I have ever met. It did not matter to him if you were an owner a player or the guy seeking beer during the game he would always give you a smile and a hello. Congrats Joe on an amazing career and enjoy everything you live for now
