I can remember watching Bure play during his stint here in Florida, back when they used to actually play games. Dude was lightning fast and an incredible puck handler. Sure was fun to watch, and he deserves this great honor.

Today’s owner is more concerned about their money than the game of hockey. It’s no accident the NHL hired Bettman, his history of lockouts speaks volumes. Herr Bettman is determined to make the negotiations as difficult as possible to show he’s in charge.

Juniors and college kids play for fun and for the sake of sport, minors may be too. Most of them have a dream to make it to the big league, make some money to buy their proud hockey mom and dad a Cadillac before getting hurt or scratched off for good. The owners were, are and always will be about making money, the more the better.

there was always a part of me in the early 90′s that wanted Bure to play with Neely and Lafontaine….that would have been amazing, if only for one game. 3 phenomenal players that had their careers cut short but got into the HHOF like they deserved. and congrats to Oates, Sakic, and Sundin on the HHOF like the deserved

Apparently you only remember him playing, and not the 1992 strike or the 1994/95 lockout. Maybe you weren’t old enough to be a fan until his later years.

Granted, different issues back then, but not so far different to say sports were just sports.

He also played when sports were sports and not a game greed. Seems like players are only more greedy than ever. Sorry but as a normal person I could probably live my entire life off of that money. I’m sorry but I’m one of those fans, that not only sees that this sport is going down hill, I also see that players are saying one thing and there leaders are saying another. I just don’t get it, both sides are losing a ton of money and for what? It seems like all their arguing over anymore is change and scraps that’s going to be left after the whole season is gone under. This whole thing is dumb and I wish I could see Bure, Sakic, and the rest of them play again. Cause that’s when hockey was hockey and not just a financial debate about scraps left at the dinner table.
