I had an old hockey coach who used to help out with the Av’s training camp. A lot of it was obviously conditioning, and he said every year the old Sakic would come out flying and lap the 20 year olds to show them whose team it was, and what they needed to strive for.

The Avs were the first sports team I truly rooted for, from any sport. My dad was a huge fan, and it made a big impact on me as a hockey fan.

Of all my time watching hockey, I think my favorite player to watch and most respected is Joe Sakic. I got to watch him play, watch him lead, and watch him be a constant force on the ice, night in and night out. He deserves that HHoF spot, for sure.
