It’s entertainment that makes life worth living, so when you don’t have it life can be painful. Why are depressed people depressed? Usually because they aren’t having any fun. When you work your crappy job and all you have to look forward to at the end of the day is watching your favourite hockey team, and you find out you won’t be able to because the two sides who make the game happen are arguing over who gets the extra millions it’s a bit painful.

They want to start at 53 and work down to 50/50 by year three. Secondly weren’t the players being irresponsible when they agreed to 100 million dollar contracts in markets they knew couldn’t afford it? It takes two signatures to make that contract legal, and the players are partly to blame for holding out until they got that 100 million. Are we really supposed to believe they had no idea this might be an issue later?

League locked players out because the Owners were fiscally irresponsible. Players agreed to 50/50 going forward, as long as existing contracts are honored.

The nitpicky contract limits, etc. can be worked out. If the Owners don’t honor their agreements, then their word is garbage and the players can’t trust them to negotiate at all.

Unlike the last stoppage, this one is primarily on the Owners.

In fact, in ANY given year, contracts may or may not be fully paid. Thats why they have escrow. Once HRR is determined escrow funds are either kept or returned. The players get a %. What their “contract” says is *never* necessarily what they get…unless revenue exactly matches projections.

Get a clue.
