Seguin and Kane are ready to “fight for Biel” in hilarious fashion

Nov 4, 2012, 4:00 PM EDT

You had to figure things were going to get a little funny having Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin together on the same team in the Swiss National League. What you didn’t expect was that it would get amusing thanks to the team helping bring the hilarity.

EHC Biel is going all out to promote having a pair of NHL superstars on their team by having them pose as… weird ax-wielding gladiators? You better believe it. Check out the photos put out by the team on their Twitter account today.

An ax-wielding Patrick Kane might be the kind of comeuppance cab drivers in Buffalo never counted on in the first place. It’s all about the element of surprise here people.

I seemed to have missed the part of “Gladiator” where these two duked it out with Maximus. Might have to pick up the director’s cut now, you guys.

No it’s not a slow news day. Why do you ask?

    “Let us prey”

Paledevil – I have to say man that you sure offer some pretty intense yet “excellent” videos … good show, jolly good show old chap ! :) Anyway, prayer is hardly needed at this point, as I can assure you that this entire business is nothing but a “charade” being carried out by Bettman and a few “key” power owners. Just watch what happens now over the coming days. The problem as I see it, is that so many have proven themselves to be incapable of seeing “that” which lays hidden in the fog !

Ok guys, you obviously need some updating on this one.
First it says Proud to be Bieler, the Fight for Biel being last season’s theme. Then the axe is part of the official city’s blazon. In that, the visual advertising campain isn’t that different from the former Atlanta Thrashers’s name origins, or the florida panther after which the franchise is named. Do I have to remind you of your “Mighty Ducks” ?
So far, the only hilarious matter I noticed is the lockout itself.

I get where you’re coming from but just look at the pictures. they are goofy no matter what background you give. two smiling, harmless hockey players, holding huge axes. For these two, it is like an oxymoron. It would actually be even weirder if they were trying to be serious…so at least there is that..

I get your point. Those aren’t official shots as far as I know, but rather photoshopping of their faces on other players pre-season shot pictures. Hence the “smiling warrior” result. But it is true that the usual roster are trying to look mean and serious on those, and not all with success. As many NHL’ers don’t succeed at it any better for many hockey gear commercials I get to see (being online or in the THN).

One can like or dislike the idea there, but really the axe thing IS related to city and the club image. In return I’d love to know how often you get to meet pinguins while hanging around in Pittsburg :)

The NHL getting worse ideas? Like The Guardian Project?

Am I the only one that thought immediately of Jessica Biel and wondered why those two would fight for her?
