ps seriously: my conspiracy theory is actually nothing more than the assertion that Bettman has an agenda in his head which he’s determined to act out “come hell or high water” … and I believe that he’s doing this with the backing of several “key” power owners … the elimination of the first part of the season is no doubt one of the goals, as is the creation of a new CBA which will essentially equate to a “diktat” as far as the players are concerned … what I still don’t get however, is the accepted loss of the Winter Classic ? … unless of course, it’s still salvageable as you mentioned the other day ? … guess we’ll see eh ?

Every player joins the NHLPA regardless of where they come from. Or do you believe that a European is less of a union guy when he joins the NHL? I don’t have a problem with Eurpoeans joining the NHL and joining the PA. But you cannot have it both ways.

And how are the players going to get full value regardless of league advertising money? You do realize that the owners and players will end up spliting revenues (HRR) 50-50 don’t you? If revenues are down, both sides lose.

And yes it is a lockout. But that’s because the union forced the league to lock them out by refusing to negotiate before the season started. I think the owners are dicks. But I put most of the blame on the PA and the players. It appears to be a moot point anyway, the membership seems to have put pressure on your pals Steve and Donald to get back to the table. Should be over soon. Players don’t want to lose any more paycheques.

And please stop acting like you care about somebody’s job overseas. I doubt anybody is buying it. I think you’re just mad that players have options and aren’t at the mercy of thier “corporate masters”.

But you opinion just mirrors that of the players. They called the leagues bluff and lost big time. They will never recoup lost salary in a limited career. The owners on the other hand will continue to own the franchises and pass them down from generation to generation long after this group of players have retired. So you can continue to support those wonderful unionized players who went over to Europe and took jobs away from other players. For me, I believe the owners were the lesser of two evils this time.

Remember your scorn for the players, you don’t get to celebrate and be part of it when the PLAYERS on your team do well, but then you’re a Habs fan so not much chance of that anyway.
