I just don't see a divisional trade for players of any worth between Vancouver and Edmonton. Toronto and Boston did it with Kessel and that blew up in the Leafs face - they'll have to see a lot more of what could have been their top prospects (a first line center and a top pairing d-man among them) than they'd like as a result. That's why these kinds of deals don't happen very often.

Edmonton does have a surplus of top 6 wingers, but I doubt they want to see whichever top, young player the Canucks would accept face them a bunch of times each year just to get Luongo. Their 1st round pick isn't very likely either unless they want to take a chance it becomes a lottery pick and ends up in the 20-30 overall range.

They might try and move Hemsky, but the Canucks won't bite on an injury prone, 29 year old making $5M for the next two seasons - even if he is a skilled scorer when healthy.
