Gretzky going to the Kings is often seen as the begining of the NHL’s (over) expansion into the sunbelt and non-traditional areas. The owners got the idea to put two more teams in California, two teams in Florida and all the rest. “Entertainment Tonight” might have begun with your very own Kings. Hello people. Hello hockey fans. owner supporters, player supporters, and those with or without a side.
As I have mentioned before. I am 47 (well I haven’t really mentioned that) I have been ice skating since I was two and playing organized ice hockey since four. I still play. Twice, sometimes three times a week. It costs me roughly $2000 a year.
And do you know what I hate?
I hate people like missippimudslinger that insult and harp and put down other readers/bloggers for participating in the only hockey some of us (you) have right now. If your a hater….fine. Just put it in its proper place. No I don’t mean beating your spouse, I mean into the area you feel is negligible.
Don’t buy that ticket! Don’t buy that jersey! Don’t buy that souvenir signed hockey puck! Don’t buy that ea sports games! Get it?
Leave your money in your pocket. That is the only way to get through.

I am a huge proponent of the “game for a game concept”. If the NHL stays out a year. I stay outrage following year. I’ll match em game for game just like my 401k.
An eye for an eye!! Who’s with me?!!!!

So missippimudslinger. Dude, really? Come on. See a therapist. Go ride a train. Hit you hand with a hammer. But seriously. Don’t rag on the other hockey fans. It makes you look bad.

You’ve got it ass-backwards, blom. The league grew by putting a product on the ice more people wanted to see. The Disney movie did a great deal to put hockey in the general public’s eyes in a positive light, unlike other movies had done to that point. The tie-in with Anaheim was genius and served to introduce many kids (future ticket buyers) to the game.

The people who have emboldened the powers-that-be in the NHL are the hard-core fans who couldn’t restrain themselves after the last labor dispute. If they had, then the NHL would certainly have thought a lot harder about going down that road again than they obviously did. Once fans flocked back, begging the NHL to take their money, the league felt they had a break-proof business model.

As revenue shot through the roof over the past five years, the league decided to take a calculated gamble in order to dramatically increase their share of the pie. They concluded that another play stoppage wouldn’t hurt them in the long run, since it didn’t the last time it was done.

The end result of this dispute will be the same all over again if all fans, whether they consider themselves hard-core or not, rush back to the arenas and scramble to order pay channels: Another dispute, another lockout (or strike) and the whole stupid shooting match all over again.

We “real” fans are sick & tired of hearing about all you fake “Entertainment Tonight” ersatz fans, with your lame threats of “leaving” and “never” coming back, etc. So just do us a favor and “get lost” then ! We don’t want you people and we don’t need you people ! … just like we don’t need at least six “sickly” sunbelt teams ! As for what Crosby thinks ? … well to hell with him too ! I don’t come here looking for “praise” and “thumbs up” like some meek and insecure person. I come here as Blomfeld to say what “I” think and feel, not what others may necessarily care to hear !

All you fake, fickle, new-age “Entertainment Tonight” fans can get lost as far as I’m concerned ! Trying to cater to you people is a “massive” part of the reason why we’re in this mess today ! We “real” fans don’t need you and we don’t want you ! Our NHL would be so much better off going back to a 24 team league, that is supported by “real” fans and “real” corporate interest only.

Well, aren’t they optimistic!?! Re-scheduling the game for a year out? If they are soooo committed to sticking to their guns, then there should never be a new CBA. At least the rescheduling indicates that there will be a season in 2013, but they need a decision for the now. $hit or get off the pot….
