Comments on: Did somebody loosen the bolts on Georges Laraque’s car tire causing it to fall off while he was driving down the highway?

I’ve loosened nuts on wheels before, but never on a tire. What kind of tires is he using that get bolted to the car? Typically the tire is on a wheel that is then bolted to the car. Must be a ‘Hydrid’ car thing.

Laraque stepped down as head of the CHLPA, one team retracted its application to join. Too bad for a good idea that went bad.

Some cars do in fact have lug bolts rather then nuts. I drive a VW in the USA. I changed my wheels a few weeks ago, and to my suprise when i removed the “lugs” they were in fact bolts rather then the traditional nuts that thread onto the lug botls. So they are the nut n bolt all in one n they thread directly into the hub. Pretty cool design. As for this story idk if his car is in fact the same design, or just a bone headed quote. For the record Canadians are a bit “different” imo.

I’ve actually had that happen to me after a tire rotation. Driving in the country then all of a sudden I see a tire role by me, then it hits me, oh that’s mine, craaaaaap! I was able to get off to the side of the road with ease. The loose tire nearly took out a window of a house.

I went and found it but couldn’t find the lug nuts to hold it in place. I actually had a presentation that day so of course I have crap all over my dress clothes. Strange enough some friendly people from Iowa pick me up and take me to my class (I live in Michigan).
