I've already accepted no NHL this year, or next.

here's why: the interest has been lost, and the damage has been done. if the NHL wanted to save face they had their chance by starting the season on Nov 2nd, which we all know isn't going to happen.

fans have already spent their season ticket / hockey budget money elsewhere. the pro minor leagues like AHL and ECHL and overseas the KHL are pulling record numbers attendance and TV/web subscriptions.

sadly, we won't be hearing much from either side IMO, we will just quietly coast into next Spring and the owners will bank on us being even more excited about the upcoming season, just like in 2004-2005. Jeremy Roenick even said it on Bob Costas "the owners are SAVING money during the lockout".

fans, the group of unsatisfied players will grow as I indicated in a previous. This is just the beginning.

id4joey | Oct 27, 2012, 4:46 PM EDT
They don’t care about the fans. They’ll start caring when they have settled. Until then, they are looking out for their best interest. Players have already lost over $350 million in salaries that they will never never see. Owners have lost as well, but they will be around much longer than the players giving them more time to make up for lost revenues. The players are better off taking a hit now, as opposed to waiting any longer. Ultimately, they will end up loosing more and more with each passing week. The band of players realizing this will grow bigger and bigger by the day and they ultimately will put pressure on the PA to make a deal.

Agree this is unreal and pure stupidity, the Owners couldn't stand not giving huge long term contracts let them just tax them on it on share it with the teams who did not go over cap and or standard contract length. Mr Bettman, want Hockey to be significant try playing not striking at conclusion of every collective agreement. That is your Legacy
