Chicago’s charity game a big hit for everyone

Oct 27, 2012, 1:15 PM EDT

While a lot of talk from last night’s Champs For Charity game in Chicago was centered around what people were saying about the lockout, the main part of the game was the job everyone did to help those in need.

As Tracey Myers of CSNChicago.com hears from the players, they were excited to not just put a show on for the fans who are eager to see some pro hockey, but do some good work on the side as well.

“We’re going through a tough time (with the lockout), but like Burish said, it’s pretty minuscule compared to what some people are going through,” Troy Brouwer said. “That’s what we were trying to raise money for tonight. To get all the old guys back was fun. To do it for a good cause was even better.”

All in all, they raised $323, 500 for the Chicago-area Ronald McDonald House Charities and did so by just reuniting a lot of the old gang.

Check out the highlights from the game including a nice tic-tac-toe goal by Patrick Kane with a little help from Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

This game proves that goodwill and sportsmanship still walk hand in hand.. That animosity and greed does not win the day…

Paledevil – That one “thumbs up” is from me man, your friend Blomfeld ! I actually don’t believe I’ve seen that film, so I’ll have to check it out sometime. Anyway, good on the Hawks for doing the “right thing” yesterday ! About the only negative I can see is the fact that Fehr was there. He should have been arrested the second he walked through the door and taken into custody “with” prejudice ! How that creep can have the nerve to attend something like that is simply beyond me. Of course he’s just an idiot reading from a prepared script. Still, that doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s a parasite who makes a lavish income from misinformation, gridlock and despair.

The ‘hawks could win the cup again next season, if they only had size on the forecheck

    Blomfeld,

Donald Fehr is out for only one person, himself. He destroy MLB. Now, he’s going to ruin the NHL.

Sportsfan69 – what you say is true enough, though fear not … I can assure you that Fehr will be “dealt with” in due course …

Call it irony or injustice but it is not right for Fehr to watch hockey while we, the fans don’t.
