and nor will anyone ever define what that is … I would contend friend that that’s the “genius of tying salary cap levels to a percentage of HRR, at least from the owner’s point of view …. never in a million years will they ever give a full and truthful accounting of all the hidden revenue streams or over-inflated costs which go into determining HRR … it’s essentially like a veil, behind which they can do as they please …

Boyle is 36. He’ll play for 2 or maybe 3 years and then retire. He’s won the Stanley Cup, the Olympic Gold medal. Pay cut? Who cares, he’s made his millions already.

The owners get to demand since they are the owners. They can out last the players… whats so hard to understand about that?

Side Note: Its actually been the owners who have moved from their first offer and shown a willingness to try and get a deal done. All of the players offers, including the three from last week, are pretty much the same as their opening position.

Thats just not true if you actually read the players offer. They started out with the players getting 56.7% of HRR next season… which is NOT a 50/50 split. It takes a few years to get to the 50/50 split. I mean its simple logic since the current contracts were based on the old 57/43 split… so if the owners agree to honor those, it can’t be a 50/50 split.

All this “But what are the owners giving up” talk makes me laugh. The owners almost never give anything up in CBA talks, no matter what the sport is. They own the league, they have all the money, and several owners are actually saving money during the lockout. What makes you think they are going to give anything up?

I’m not saying thats right, but its the way the world works. I just wish someone would tell Fehr that….

We are talking about who is being stubborn, not who can hold out the longest. Players have agreed to a reduce split, what have the owners agreed to? If both sides learn to compromise then we can have a deal. The owners aren’t negotiating, they are just demanding. I don’t care who can hold out the longest because both the owners and the players can hold out the entire year which is too long in my eyes. Get real yourself if you think there isn’t a chance we miss the whole season.

Name me one thing the owners gave up to compromise in a deal. They players agreed to go to a 50-50 split as long as current contracts are paid.
