Watch Alex Ovechkin smash glass with his head

Oct 20, 2012, 4:30 PM EST

Alex Ovechkin‘s times with Dynamo Moscow haven’t been teeming over with highlight reel plays, but he’s certainly making an impact on the league… Just not in the way you’d think.

During Dynamo’s 4-1 win over Atlant, Ovechkin not only scored a goal but managed to cause a bit of a delay thanks to smashing a pane of glass after delivering a check. What caused the destruction? Ovi’s head of course. Check out the video courtesy of the KHL.

OK the video is a bit weird as we get to see Ovechkin get undressed outside the locker room to get the glass out of his equipment and he apparently gets his hand worked on as well. All that destruction from just his head though? Yowza.

God how I wish the NHL would start. Miss Ovie so much, as well as my Capitals.

Couldn’t agree more, had high hopes for this year. Like i do every season. I’m pretty sure i should be watching Caps and Canadians for Hockey Night in Canada…. i hate this…

. Years ago we could see that Boudreau would never be able to get the Caps out of their conference, and nor could OV. Yes! He is exciting to watch, but he doesn’t have the character to wear the C nor the ability to lead the Caps to a SC championship. Let me say it again, The Caps will never win a SC with this guy as long as he is wearing the C. No way. Backstrom on the other hand is in my view the guy that should be wearing the C. OC is flashy but lacks character, Backstrom is not as flashy but plays the game scientifically and efficiently. I can see a team built around him become the SC champions.

Not really sure what this story has to do with your little rant, and you are over stating just how much control a captain has over a team.

Ovechkin = Flash, not Cash !

I concur 100% with id4joey. At times Ovechkin can be one of the most “exciting and colorful” players in the league, while at other times he can be one of the most “overpaid and disappointing” duds in the league. So while you’re free to pick which one it’s going to be on any given night, in the end it doesn’t really matter, as that’s always decided by the big man “Ovi” himself !

Folks, there will be AHL hockey on TV this evening. Catch it.

News flash Ben Eager in the can for assault at The Quail on Young St in Toronto. Get these guys back on the ice ASAP. .

That’s one way, to use your head.

  5. id4joey - Oct 20, 2012 at 6:32 PM

A captain has no control. He is the glue that keeps the team together. He is the guy that MUST lead by example on and off the ice. He is the bridge between players and coaches. History will show you that every SC championship team had a leader as captain. OV doesn’t have the character to be that guy.

    • blomfeld - Oct 20, 2012 at 8:43 PM

That’s exactly correct id4joey ! … not to mention the fact that a “real” captain doesn’t live at home with their mom ! In fairness to the Capitals however, I suspect they only gave him the “C” because of his contract … yet even they must surely see the folly in that by now ?

      • husky2score - Oct 20, 2012 at 9:03 PM

Dude really? He isn’t living with his Mom, he is living in his home country, like the rest of us. And you have no idea what goes on in the Caps locker room, so stop being a troll and think about what you say.

“Ovechkin lives with his parents when in Moscow. Alex lives with his brother in Virginia and his parents stay with them from September until April or May each year” … Wikipedia

@husky2score – there ya go pal ! .. as for you throwing the “T” word around, well I suggest you go have a look at yourself in a mirror asap ! :)

    Hahahaha

  7. panicatthedistrict - Oct 20, 2012 at 7:36 PM

In my opinion, Brooks Laich or Matt Hendricks should’ve been the candidates for the big “C”. Their leadership skills are unquestionable along with their veteran presence.

Man, do I miss my Caps. This season is supposed to be a proving grounds of sorts for Holtby and Oates, not to mention give the team more experience and comfort before Forsberg and Kuz get here next year. Get that deal done!

  8. id4joey - Oct 20, 2012 at 7:39 PM

Ah! Good choices, friend. I like how you think.

  9. id4joey - Oct 20, 2012 at 10:10 PM

You don’t have to be in the locker room to see they have not been able to make it to the SC final. Or to see him get benched by the coach in the last minute of the game when down by a goal. Oh! And that Boudreau couldn’t win a cup with a loaded team. Or to see that he’s everywhere on the ice except where he should be. And what did hunter do with OV last year? Just dissect the game and you’ll see it.

To bad it wasn’t his neck! Freedom of speech husky, does that ring a bell?

    • blomfeld - Oct 21, 2012 at 7:31 PM

@banger78 – see above friend … (ie: Ovechkin lives with his parents when in Moscow. Alex lives with his brother in Virginia and his parents stay with them from September until April or May each year)

  11. banger78 - Oct 22, 2012 at 1:10 PM

My comment was more directed at his neck ,commie, thanks for setting me straight!

  12. banger78 - Oct 22, 2012 at 1:18 PM

Besides i don’t give a crap who lives with who, how do you know so much about his personal life, stalker maybe! or…….
