Thank you, Captain Obvious, for reiterating what all fans already know: You’re all greedy to the point of dysfunction. It’s pretty apparent that the love of money is the root of this evil lockout and even more apparent that your blinding love of said money will result in a severely shortened, or outright cancelled, season. Too bad that, in this case anyway, admitting you have a problem is doing nothing to solve it.

I understand the need to negotiate the nitty gritty and that it’s not easy, but you CAN do it! Everyone deserves their fair share, but this is not a negotiation about police salaries or teachers’ benefits. Just push Fehr and Bettman’s egos out of the way and get to work! Even when this is resolved, I’ll never see any of you the same way after this and that’s truly sad.

why are you even on here if you “hate the NHL” ? go outside and take a deep breath or better yet, read a book.

1) They are talking about dividing the revenues, not the profits. The difference is, the players half of revenue goes into buying houses and yachts. The owners half goes into actually running their NHL franchise – quite an expensive thing to do I think.

2) I hate the NHL. The league is a joke, it consistently puts short term profits ahead of the quality of the game, the game is poluted with jackass players, and hefty 1-game suspensions. They have tv timeouts, and millions of meaningless games. Teams like the Islanders are allowed to exist. There’s a head hunt in practically every game, usually around 10 minutes in the third period, by the team who’s losing. Bettman is our commissioner! He represents our game. And he is a sniveling crook who’s probably never worn skates.

3) I hate the NHLPA. They refuse to work for fair wages – businesses sometimes need to restructure because they are losing money – normally it means firing a bunch of people and getting finances in order to try and grow again. But then the players strike. Wah Wah. What is this, Greece? Yet the players scamper off to europe to play for way less. They talk like its a labour union – but they wont represent minor league players, will they? no.

Why the Fu*k is either side trying to win the “PR Battle” when the fans realistically don’t matter or can make a decision for either side, just nonsense and irritating noise coming out of their mouths !!

Think about it, do you think a player like Chris Thorburn who is on the last year of his contract and set to make $900,000 this year really wants to miss one full season “for the future of his union brothers”??? After the 2004-05 lockout 240 NHL players never saw another minute of ice-time after that lockout ended..

I think the owners are wrong for demanding such an immediate rollback and by no means have they managed there league adequately.. They do deserve a lot of the brunt to shoulder for this mess which is why I think a more reasonable proposal would be a gradual rollback of salaries of 2-3% each year until they get to 50-50… Plus they need implement revenue sharing of course as well to make sure everyone is on an equal playing field…

The players mentality of “not being pushed around” might work on the ice, but in the boardroom it will just result in lost salary.

I hate both sides now…this is childish…
