Absolutely agree. Even though I’m personally against hunting (and no, I don’t eat meat since I’m sure someone will throw in the obligatory comment), I would never impose my beliefs on someone else. With that said, I really think that what Booth is doing is pretty despicable. He’s clearly going for ‘trophy hunts’ with no intention of eating the animal. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s the perception. Yes, he’s within his rights to do so, but I can still think he’s a scumbag for it.

Most/all hunters that I know would be against this sort of thing, thankfully.

Even vegans have to be okay with some animal killing (unless they are hand-picking all of their food to ensure mice don’t get caught up in threshing machines, etc).

That being said it’s disingenuous to claim that someone can’t be opposed to trophy hunting and consume some animal products without being okay – you can be okay with some kind of animal killing without being okay with others.

That being said, personally I find some types of hunting to be far more ethical than our meat producing industries can be. If this animal was eaten then it’s hard to argue this was less ethical than our continents huge consumption of meat and all the environmental havoc that wreaks, nevermind the manner in which those animals are treated – I’d rather live life in the wild and die of an arrow or gunshot wound than live in an industrial complex nose to tail, then get strung up by my feet and have a bolt stuck through my head.

I sure hope that animal at least gets eaten. I am a hunter but I find “trophy” hunting fairly despicable and amoral. And I hope he is a good shot with a bow because the only respectful way to murder an animal is with a very effective lung or heart shot. I love backpacking in BC and seeing the goats high on the cliffs is always a awesome moment. He better eat all the meat or it is pathetic.

No idea Mountain Goats were that big, or is David Booth that small? Anyway, he took it down with a bow and arrow, not easy.

I am not big on hunting and fishing, but to bag something like that is pretty ****ing cool.
