Well don't forget that the Vancouver Millionaires won the Stanley Cup in 1915 !

@Ron - Now who says that the Pacific Northwest isn't hockey country eh ? :) Anyway, your argument for reclaiming the old, original "Metropolitans" name for Seattle is extremely valid. It sounds cool and it would be the right thing to do, by paying homage to those who went before. In fact, an argument could be made for the Canuck's doing the same thing. Not only would the "Millionaires" be a good name, as well it would be kind of fitting ! ... don't you agree ? :)

and by the way ... GO KINGS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Friends ... those were the words of a very well known psychologist, who once famously explained the "root" cause for all of mankind's ugliness and hostility ... and it makes sense when you think about. I look around today and see so many of these punks pumping their heads "non-stop" full with this toxic, hateful "garbage" music like Megadeath, Anthrax and Grim Reaper. I therefore suspect that this "jernster21" idiot could probably cure all of his problems, by simply changing up his I-pod playlist to something a little more uplifting ... don't you agree ? :)

There are only a few (serious) names I think most people in the area would consider:

Seattle Metropolitans (1917 Stanley Cup Champions)
Totems (Old WHL and current Bantam team name)
	Thunderbirds (Current WHL Junior team)
	Sea Wolves (Cool)
Sockeyes (as in the salmon and getting socked in your eye)

If we were to get a relocated team, I doubt names like Coyotes or Islanders or would be kept. There are no Coyotes in Seattle and in the Isles case I don't think Seattle fans would want another team's names, trophies, and history, unlike some podunk NBA outposts with more ticks and tumbleweeds than people.

So they're spending all this money to build an arena to lure an NBA team back hopefully and possibly an NHL team. Maybe if they had done this before there wouldn't be a team in Oklahoma called the thunder. It amazes me. These cities refused to build a arena for the teams they already have. But after they're gone then they want to build an arena in the hope of stealing a team from another city. And Seattle is not the first city to do this.

"try naming a hypothetical Seattle-based NHL team" ? ...

Well my answer to that would be the SEATTLE BETTMANS ! :)

Friends, I'll have you know that I play the majority of my golf at this little ol' course just south across the line here, right by a postage "stamp-sized" hamlet called "Custer" WA. Now despite the fact that George Armstrong Custer was a "controversial figure" to say the least, the fact remains that he had a "vision" that fateful day at the Little Bighorn, back in June of 1876. Well history has shown us that his vision that day was wrong ... in fact it was very wrong. And likewise I believe that history will eventually show us that Bettman's "Sunbelt" expedition was a colossal mistake too ... or a "failed vision" if you will.

Anyway, my suggestion for team names for these franchises that are inevitably destined to migrate northward are as follows:

- The Seattle Bettmans
- The Saskatoon Dalys
- Der Halifax Fuhrers
- The Portland Luongos
- The Quebec City Parises
- The Moose Jaw Ovechkins

ps: I seriously hope Seattle gets a team ... happy 50th WF anniversary you guys ! :)
