The assinine nature of this is sooooo painfully evident.

Could both sides not have started this process MUCH MUCH earlier, and be at this point BEFORE the season was supposed to start???

Why does it have to get ugly FIRST, waste a TREMENDOUS amount of effort with players interviewing, signing, and playing in Europe and owners trying to figure out how to offset lost revenue.

Experience has shown that in any game of ‘chicken’, both sides typically get hurt. In this case, there is a third side… WE THE PEOPLE… THE FANS get hurt.

Ridiculous for grown men… business men… to let it go this far.

Because this is about money. As the old expression goes, friends are friends, and business is business. You may really like your friend, but you still aren’t going to sell him your car for what you consider to be way under fair market value, are you?

I actually think they will hash this out fairly quickly, as in within a few more weeks. Using the car analogy again, the players know the owners need to sell the car, and the owners know the players need a car. They aren’t fighting about a principle like the cap this time, but rather just the price. Once one side makes an offer that looks like legitimate movement, the negotiations will start again, stall again for a bit, then finally conclude.

Just did something I’ve never done in my life when I bought tickets to Philadelphia 76ers for $4 each on stubhub……hopefully for NHL sake my 2 sons don’t enjoy NBA or I’ve found a new sport to watch for much less.

TOMORROW WE WILL HAVE A SEASON ! … AND TOMORROW ELVIS WILL STILL BE THE KING !

Here at this “venomous” PHT website, I’ve been maintaining all along that we “will” have our 2012-13 season back up and running by the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend, if not before. Yet for saying “that” which I believe, I’ve somehow become a target for the many “agents of hatred” who cowardly gravitate towards these “anonymous” techno forums like PHT ? I don’t understand it and nor do I want to. Even back in January when I first came here because I truly felt that something very “special” was in the air for my beloved LA Kings, I was then met also with the same vitriol and human ugliness ? It’s a shame, as I do believe that the majority of people everywhere, always choose to walk the path of civility when given the chance. At any rate, I’m convinced that things are “going to happen” over the coming days and that we LA Kings will be back to defend “our” Cup soon enough !

just get the dam deal done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! luckily NBCSP network is planning to air college hockey in case the crap continues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I got my hockey fix last night by watching 24/7 pens/caps which arrive yesterday. I ordered it knowing dam well the hockey season would probably not start on time

Boths sides represented by guys who can’t even skate or play. No feeling for the game, no love for the game, can’t understadnd the passion, (just cold ruthless lawyers) Selfish and out of touch with the fan base and could care less. It’s the Democrat this time. Two weeks cancelled and all of a sudden the players are willing to talk?

NHL players have a higher percentage of the “pie” than any of the 3 other major sports leagues.

Also isn’t it a bit hypocritical for union members (players) to be taking away other players jobs in Europe and elsewhere?

We’ll see. Secret meetings are a good sign to me. It tells you that they aren’t just meeting for “show”, but they’re really trying to get something done. Of course, this doesn’t mean that a deal is imminent, but its certainly better than the crap we’ve all been reading for the past week.
