I do feel empathy for the people that rely on the NHL to feed there families though, thats whose side I am on… Other than that I could care less about the NHLPA or the Owners.

The PA is assuming growth of 7.1%. If revenue grows less, they’ll get less, if it grows more they’ll get more. (The 7.1%, FYI, is what revenue growth averaged over the previous CBA. The one that spanned the worst economy in 80.)

In fact, using the 7.1% growth, the PA’s proposal starts at 54.3% and goes down from there.

They’ve already tabled a proposal that compromises on the 57% the previous CBA had them receiving. The new proposal starts at 54.3% and goes DOWN from there, to a low of 52.3%, with more room left to negotiate.

Maybe on the definition of HRR?

The now-expired CBA didn’t even use every dollar generated as a result of hockey, and the owners’ offer cut into that even more. The players should compromise by just giving in to this new HRR definition? Oh, wait, I know, the owners put out a stupid offer and then came back with one slightly less stupid. That doesn’t make them the good guys.

Is this Daly an idiot or something ? Of course the players are doing everything in their power to get this done ! Just take these “moral stalwarts” like Ovechkin and Kovalchuk for example, who’ve bravely done the “right thing” by going overseas to put European journeymen out of work. That’s the way you fix things ! In fact, it’s really no different than when you have an upset with your wife at home. Talking together and understanding each other is probably the worst thing you could ever do. Anyone with even half a brain, knows that the best way to remedy a marital upset is to go right next door and have an affair with your neighbor’s wife ! I honestly don’t know about this anymore ? Because if this idiot Daly is indicative of the owner’s thinking, then I fear we could indeed be in for a very long haul ? … and that’s truly a shame.

It’s going to be ugly. It’s going to be pointless, as this undermines any inroads the game made in the past few years. And it’s going to relegate hockey to the level of Arena Football and the English Premeir League in terms of American sports attention.

They get a guaranteed contract with no outlay of cash to buy a team, or the day to day expense of running a team including the payroll necessary to pay players, coaches, ticket reps, trainers, receptionist, office staff, GMs, etc.

But that’s not enough. Now they want a bigger share even though they did not risk a penny.

Would love to see the players start to break the ranks of NHLPA.

How much of the revenue sharing will you get in the KHL?

Steve Jobs once said that “You cannot have a negotiation without compromise.” Well there’s no way a new CBA can be reached without some kind of compromise and at this point, the players seem unwilling to do so. I know it sucks that the owners are a bunch of money grubbing jabronies but if the players remain unwilling to compromise on salaries and hockey related revenues, the season is going to be lost. Even worse, its the very people that generate these revenues and pay the player’s salaries that are going to take it on the chin. Not to mention the businesses and hard working people that will be negatively impacted by a lockout in an already struggling economy.

Both sides need to quit the pissing contest and get something done because this is past the point of ridiculous.
