Bieksa and Hamhuis surprise youth hockey team, show up to practice

Getty Images A minor-hockey team in North Vancouver got a surprise Thursday when Canucks defensemen Kevin Bieksa and Dan Hamhuis joined them for a practice.
According to the Vancouver Sun, the NHLPA is encouraging its members to get out in the community during the lockout and work with young players. (We hear the owners tried a similar PR strategy, but couldn’t find any kids that wanted to get better at smoking cigars and crushing unions.)
“It was great they would do something like this,” said 16-year-old goalie Chris Gharakhanian. “I guess they’ve got a little extra time on their hands these days.”
Keith Ballard was a healthy scratch.

I volunteer for “smoking cigars and crushing unions”, if a decent salary comes with it
