I agree with the necessity to manage the herd but i will say that the predator population is on the rebound. The proliferation of the grey wolf in western north america is quickly becoming a problem. We need to start culling wolves again soon…their protection, while good intentioned, has backfired tremendously.

I don’t hunt. Not because I’m against it but because I live at the beach in a resort town. Theres no hunting here. I love to fish. How is fishing any different than hunting? Aren’t I “hunting” for fish? I love meat, I love steak, I love chicken, I love fish, I love turkey, I love jerky(didn’t mean for that to rhyme but its kinda funny) so here I give a big thank you to those who are responsible for bringing me the things I love to eat.

Btw, my Roast beef sandwich dinner was mmm mmm mmm gooooood!!!

100% agree. I would add that if he has no interest in eating it himself, take some of that NHL paycheck, have the elk butchered, and donate it to a local food bank. Way too many people still got to bed hungry in the country and elk’s a high quality, lean protein that’s low in fat and cholesterol. Bit gamey for my taste, but if I needed the services of a food bank (and thank God I do not), I would be more than happy to take home some elk.

Way to contribute to the problem Mike! Quit making ‘hunting’ out to be some sort of inhumane/despicable act – it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what the act of hunting actually entails, you don’t have to go out explaining it grotesque detail to make a point. Unless he’s poaching these animals then it’s entirely legal and how it strikes anyone’s moral fiber is 100% irrelevant. No story here, move along.

I’ve said this before but I think it’s worth repeating. I’m not a hunter but I have no problem with those who choose to do so. What I have a problem with is Booth’s inexplicable need to make sure we all know that he shot an animal to death.

It’s when you start preaching to other people about it that i have a problem. Actually, it is 100% necessary to manage population sizes because we have decimated the predator populations and changed the habitat structure across the country, providing far more food than would normally be available to cervids throughout much of the continent. Overpopulation would lead to population crashes and regional extinction of many herds within just a few decades.

There’s an outdoor channel on TV, and people have the right to choose not to watch it. Should probably take a similar approach to Mr. Booth’s twitter feed.

First off let’s remember that we are talking about hunting not dog fighting. Secondly if it were such a horrible thing would Canada or the province in which he was hunting have issued him a permit for it? I get that some people don’t like the idea of hunting, even though they enjoy steaks at restaurants that come from cows that were also killed, but let the guy be happy about what he likes doing. Just a side note it does appear that he used a bow and that is an extremely difficult way to hunt.

I personally am against hunting. It’s unnecessary in the civilization we live in. However, it is 100% legal and part if millions of peoples lives. It’s pretty unfair people are making this an issue.
