And how many small, rural towns did they quiz? And how are they defining “hard-core” fans? I’m sure it’s a little different than how someone from Raleigh, Dallas, or Sunrise might define it. Plus, most of these places are inundated with other hockey leagues. The NHL will be back soon enough, nothing to worry about.

This poll is scewed a bit because the Toronto poll indicated that 100 percent of people don’t care about this Leaf season. It hasn’t even started and Burke is making a mockery of the Leaf franchise! They are currently in first place and will stay that way until they hit the ice again and once again become the laughing stock of professional on ice product!

I think the “anger” over the lockout, no matter the continent is subdued right now because no games have been misses yet. Once we start to see that, I expect that number to rise a bit.

No Canada is not too blame. All this shows is that we Canadians have more to do with our lives than worry about hockey … at least for the moment. In fact it’s good to see these kinds of numbers, as perhaps this will give the pompous asses (NHLPA) something to think about ? Nonetheless, in my opinion the financial stress being levied on this league is coming from 3 main sources … and they’re as follows in descending order of severity:

1) over-expansion into “non” indigenous markets (ie: sunbelt teams)
2) player greed as most recently evidenced by Parise & Suter
3) player ignorance as most recently evidenced by Ovechkin’s hollow threats
4) player selfishness as most recently evidenced by Luongo’s bailout
5) player arrogance as most recently evidenced by the wholesale exodus to Europe

So Canada is to blame now?

Where is that group of posters who always seem to come out of the woodwork and claim that the League’s problems are all due to southern expansion? I thought we were supposed to relocate half of the teams to Canada to solve all the revenue problems and stop the lockout, but if Canadians hardly care more than the Americans, then what’s the point?

Well. I’m a hard core fan, live in one of the cities where the rink is full. The more Schneider and Jacobs exercise their control over the negotiations because of their sick greed, the less I care that the season is cancelled and I will walk away from the NHL If the season is delayed.

I’m also Canadian and like hockey, but I don’t care about this. At least not yet. That may change the day after the Super Bowl.

Either they hate their teams ( understandable) or they don’t know how much they will miss it.
