Barclays Center

New York Islanders fans will have to wait for a glimpse inside their team’s potential future home.

According to Chris Botta of Sports Business Journal, the Oct.2 preseason game between the Isles and Devils at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn will be officially cancelled in the coming days.

The news is no surprise. It’s only a matter of time until the entire NHL exhibition schedule is cancelled due to the lockout.

The Barclays Center opens Sept. 28 with a Jay-Z concert.

Good tickets remain for the Harlem Globetrotters on Oct. 7.

This is a huge loss for the Islanders. I believe they were intending this as a coming out party for their likely move to Barclay’s in 2015 either on a permanent of interim basis. I wonder, assuming that the season is salvaged whether the NHL will allow the teams to schedule a regular season game there.

This is a shame. I was looking forward to this game since it was announced.

There’s a special place in hell reserved for trolls like Bettman.

Understand the sentiment, but he’s just the messenger. It’s the owners who are doing this.

Certainly sucks, I’m a Devils fan but I really wanted to see the new arena.
