Holy cow are these Vancouver Canucks ever becoming an “old folks home” now or what ? No doubt Doan can have a positive impact initially … but after that, I can’t see him being anything more than just another well-paid “aged” floater on a team which is now starting to look like some sort of an Alaska cruise ! And while it would be unfair to compare Doan to some of these other geriatric “busts” like Messier or Sundin, it’s nonetheless interesting to see the Canucks continually head in this “senior” direction … what are they thinking ? Almost every other team in the league is pursuing “youth” and the future, while the Canucks are going after old men with buckets of cash ? … it’s very strange …

ps: big man Luongo was up here at Northview the other day and he was still wearing that silly girl’s cap … what’s up with that ? … don’t they sell men’s clothing down there in Florida ?

A big “WHAT IF?” to consider:

Suppose Doan signs with Vancouver….and Phoenix ends up winning the cup next year.

I know the chances are astronomical, but it would be interesting to see fate give Doan such a gigantic a$s-kicking.

I like Doan as a player and as a person, but I really feel like he would be making the wrong decision by staying phoenix, he’s gotta when a cup before he retires, but being a Detroit fan I would hate 2 see him go 2 Vancouver, I think he would have been a great fit in Detroit

Doan is a class act (despite his wishy-washy attitude in these proceedings) and I’ll wish him luck either place he goes. He’s a solid player and he deserves a shot at a cup. At the same time its always nice to see a veteran choose to stay with the ‘hometown’ team.
