You're dead on. The players act like they'll be the only ones giving up money in this fight but they conveniently forget that a good chunk of the owners in the league have been losing money over the past 8 years. What the players need to get through their heads is that they WILL have to give up some of their HRR revenue if they expect to play at all this year. Digging your heels in won't help the situation move forward, and the owners can hold out longer than they can. In all reality, it's the players' season to lose. You wanna play as bad as you say? Give up a small piece of your multi-million dollar salary and get on the ice.

You were my winter companion, my spring best friend, and now you gone. Oh the days of winter are so long but you made them worth standing. The nights so bitterly cold but warmed them up with your explosive speed, the unbelievable saves, the crash against the boards, the friendly way you settled a dispute with two men meeting for some harmless horseplay when the gloves come off. But greed killed you off and you'll never be back. Why did it have to end this way, you could have made it work but we one thing for sure it was fun while it lasted. Good bye my dear friend rest in peace. Obituary of the National Hockey League. 1885-2012

anyone know what Cap was after last lockout and what it is now?
It seems players keep taking steps back other than top guys who get ridiculous life deals and the NHL actually has TV money this time around? I have to be missing something. Is it just because the small market teams cant hang, if thats the case move or fold.

Well... its not that they don't want to make a deal, its that they want to make a deal thats absolutely perfect for them. Obviously thats not going to happen.

I think Jim Matheson said it best... the players might be the show, but the owners run the stage and take all the risks. The players, no matter what their resolve, will eventualy lose this fight. Now I'm not saying they should or that I agree with the owners, but if the players are going to drag this out for months only to buckle to the owners demands again next July.... I'll be very pissed. They should accept the fact that, even with a 10% cut in pay, they are still very rich men who do little more then play a game.
