Oh dumbsk I would love to hear where this belief of yours comes from…to what great knowledge of honesty and integrity do you know of that the owners have show in the past? Billionaires don’t become billionaires because of their kindness, or their willingness to pay proper value for anything. The union was created out of necessity to protect the players from the owners who proved that they were far to willing to screw the players over in every way they could to improve their own already bursting bank accounts. In a perfect world I’d love to agree with you but this world is far from perfect…

lockout most likely wouldn’t go into December if there is one (which it looks like there will be)

both parties know this needs to be a shortened season at worst, they can’t afford to lose another year of hockey….also guessing NBC’s deal with the NHL is too sweet to pass up for the owners.

It’s classic employer vs union vice versa stuff. It’s old school at its worst, I am on the players side, BUT, ditch the union and fend for yourself. Players are scared by union officials telling them they’re getting screwed. I do not believe without the union that owners wouldn’t pay the players all they deserve. They want the best product on the ice and they want to make $ doing it. Who are we to tell tell business owners how much they must spend and how much they can make? It’s anti American. Ditch union and the players will be fine. Bettiman, Fehr and others with their giant egos and pompous self serving attitudes will be irrelevant. Let’s play hockey. No CBA this year and let agents and GM’s solve this thing.

I’ll add this comment, either side as offer the idea of arbitration. It goes to show league was hell bent on a lockout from beginning and players are trying to settle this the right way.
