With all due respect to The Great One and Bobby. The NHL isn’t dealing with the previous executive directors. Bettman, et al. is dealing with a someone who is one of the key people of the 1994 MLB players strike.

Gary can give ultimatums all he wants. Fehr is the type (cut in the same mold as Marvin Miller) would dig in his heels. If that means the season is lost once again, so be it. After the last two seasons which was exciting. This is a kick in the gut both sides are culpable. No winners here. Us fans, the concession workers, arena security, amongst other workers are the losers in this.

Players took their medicine (again) 7 years ago.
And Bobby got paid handsomely because of the efforts of Ted Lindsay and Doug Harvey.
