PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Marty St. Louis is “absolutely” worried about the possibility of a lockout. (The Tampa Tribune)

Manny Malhotra joined the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps for a workout. The team is co-owned by his brother-in-law and Los Angeles Laker point guard Steve Nash. (Sportsnet)

The Nashville Predators helped build a playground. (The Tennessean)

Daniel Alfredsson is a bit behind where he’d like to be this close to the start of training camp, but he’s not discouraged. (Ottawa Sun)

Lightning prospect Slater Koekkoek, who was picked 10th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, got a scare when he suffered a shoulder injury during an OHL preseason game on Thursday. Koekkoek needed to have surgery for a torn labrum last season, but fortunately his latest setback isn’t nearly as serious. He was diagnosed with a deep bone bruise. (Tampa Bay Times)

Speaking of top picks in 2012, Canadiens prospect Alex Galchenyuk will not play in Europe, even if there’s an NHL lockout. He plans to play for OHL Sarnia, but he will presumably compete for a spot with the Montreal Canadiens after a new CBA is signed. (Calgary Sun)
