“The NHL Players’ Association is hoping that Quebec’s labour laws will keep members of the Montreal Canadiens from being locked out by the league.

The team’s players have hired Montreal-based lawyer Michael Cohen, who sent a cease and desist letter to the Habs owners and the NHL on Friday.

They’re claiming it would be unlawful for the players to be locked out — something the league plans to do if a new collective bargaining agreement isn’t reached by Sunday — because the NHLPA isn’t certified by the Quebec Labour Board.”

This is an absolutely absurd point. Unions are far from perfect but they are one of the few things that keeps Americans from being paid like the Chinese. There would be no 40 hour work week, no minimum wage, and hardly any benefits like health care coverage without the formation of unions. We’d still be treated like factory workers from the industrial revolution where if you lose a limb on the job, costing you your earning power for life, you’d be fired and starve. Stop taking what Fox news says as gospel and think about the well being of your fellow man, not just the status of your bank account.

Not arguing the actual point you’re trying to make, but I gotta say, you’ve put out the most cliched “swiss cheese” argument I’ve heard in a long time.

A – I highly doubt the average Union workers toiling on assembly lines across North America are making $85 an hour, and as far as Union workers overall, an $85 an hour wage isn’t exactly a working average.
B – you’re argument against Unions is to show us an example of how poorly workers are treated without Unions.

NHLPA is a joke….last time I checked unions were formed to make sure companies didn’t pay employees pennies a day. All unions should be abolished in North America.

The fall of western society as we know it is due to unions…
USA $85/hour for an assemble worker
China $0.05/hour for an assemble worker
Both making the same product….who do you think needs a union?
