Please tell me what Philadelphia fans have done to you so I can begin to understand why you have this need to tell everyone you hate them so much. Believe me, I know how brutal Philadelphia fans can be. I grew up surrounded by them. I was picked on growing up for not being an Eagles fan, but nothing they have done or nothing anyone has ever done would cause me to hate them as much as you hate Philadelphia.

Your first 3 statements provide an explanation for this psycho’s motivation. The “but” proceeding the last of the three indicates that you don’t condone the extent of his actions however, you just spent a paragraph advising us (responsible fans) of his mindset.

I’m glad you made it out alive, but wearing a Joe Carter jersey is not as bad as you would expect. If you did this back in ’93, the fans would have been angry, but they weren’t as violent back then. It’s the newer generation that are the worst. If you did it recently, you probably didn’t hit much of a nerve. It’s been forgotten by many fans and those who still remember don’t really care anymore, especially after ’08.

still, it was bold, and probably not the safest decision. We have all heard stories of violent Philly fans. I have a friend who witnessed a bunch of eagles fans ripping (literally) a T.O Cowboys jersey off of another fan. I saw a young Hispanic boy throw a grocery back at a sweet olf Asian couple wearing Lightning Jerseys, and say “Lightning Suck!” I’ve always felt bad for that couple, but that’s what you expect when you go to Philly wearing another team’s jersey.

It’s not right in anyway and it puts a black mark on respectable Philly fans which is a shame because we hold the majority…. by a lot. If you count the number of incidents compared to the number of non-incidents (meaning every time a Philly Fan went to an eagles, flyers, phillies, or sixers game and didn’t physically or verbally abuse someone), you’d see that the bad fans hold maybe 2% of the entire population of Philadelphia sports fans. Which is a lot more than most teams, but not enough to taint the entire fan base like it has. 2% still leaves us with roughly (very) 220,000 terrible people as fans, based on the populations of eastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey. But I think you would even agree that there can’t be 220,000 people running around every year verbally and physically abusing other people. There can’t be.

Did I make excuses? Did I say, “it’s ok because…” or “it’s not our fault, we…”? No.

Serious when did I justify it? I said, and I quote, “I hate these stories,” “some people TAKE IT TO FAR,” and the kicker, “Others take it ever further and are physically violent, which is just awful.” How could you possible read those sentences and think I was justifying anything?
