The potential Nassau developers seem to agree that it will take government funding to get it done in Uniondale. That probably means a federal project. Short of that, I don't see the Isles staying in Uniondale.

Apart from that, there are two options. They could have a temporary home in Brooklyn while an arena is built in Queens alongside CitiField. Alternatively, if the Isles commit to Brooklyn, the developers there could renovate Barclay's to accomodate a larger crowd.

People talk about the Barclays Center as being too small for hockey but the fact is it could hold an average sized Islanders crowd with 1000 empty seats left over.

If the Islanders ever become a big draw they could always raise ticket prices; look at the Winnepeg Jets, they play in a building many think is too small but with the second highest average ticket price in the league they are getting by.

It would hardly be ideal but given ownership's track record trying to get a new facility built it might just be the best option.
