That’s a fact. It’s also a fact that he’s still a top 10 goalie in the league and there are teams that would love to have him despite that contract, but couldn’t get him because he doesn’t want to go there or they don’t have the ability to trade to get him.

There are only a few choices as a result, which may limit the return the Canucks can get, but the market is hardly closed to the point they’d have to demote him to the AHL. He’ll stay with the team if they don’t find a trading partner right away, and you can bet there will be some teams that are struggling in net as the season wears on.
