I mean just the nhl’ers . Not the other leagues . I just don’t think it’s union wise to play elsewhere when your have a huge problem right here , I mean think how much faster this would be over if they can’t play at all …. Anywhere. The other leagues and their roster players can play. The people who you described who currently work at the NHL rinks are getting screwed by all this regardless . No CBA = no NHL

Banning players from competition isn’t fair. To be honest, all these comments feel like déjà vu from the 2004-05 lockout.

Can’t punish one and not the other . They both are reasons for the mess it has become. Both sides one the date of expiration and did nothing to get the ball rolling. My biggest point against the players doesn’t involve their contracts , it only involves the hrr. Pay them there worth as players , this is why they negotiate congrats. Their stake on hockey related revenue should not exceed 50 % . Not saying anything about them not getting there contrar money. But think abou this…. If you work at a factory and hour union goes on strike should you be able to go work at the non union factory ? If you do , you just left the union ! It’s called crossing the picket line.

So far there has been no indication that if the players were to accept a 50/50 split that the owners would accept that – they could very well be set on 43 percent and that’s extremely significant and I don’t blame them one bit for not being on board with that. Supply and demand is simple economics, when you’re the top % of people that can do your job at the highest level, you should have the bargaining power to get yourself an acceptable deal.

I think what really pisses me off is the fact that the players are willing to go to a lockout cause they say that they are “irreplaceable ” . What I feel , and I hope others do as well , is that the are wrong.. The fans are the ” ideal sable ” part of this. Especially the hardcore fans that will be lost due to the petty fighting between the owners and players. All the. Ayers are fighting for is about the money they make that is beyond their contract. Not the contracts themselves. I know myself that I would love to make half of what they make to play hockey everyday, let alone the rest. Time to shrink the heads of both the owners and players down to reality!!

never really thought about it, but it has to be an advantage to see live game action before others in the league. while everyone else is at home sitting on their butts you’re out kicking ass in Magnitokorsk? Sounds good to me!

I agree they should be able to do whatever they wanna do. If they wanna play in the KHL, so be it. The owners are the ones screwing everything up, including the fans!! More power to the players where ever they wanna play until the owners realize they’re not god. More so Bettman, the head prick in charge.

I know if alot of nhl players went to the khl i would just start watching that and probably forget about the nhl. Too many big egos to run the league smoothly. the worst of all them is bettman

I would love to see this, honestly. In addition to the “solidarity” they all share in regards to their negotiations, all the best players need to go play in another league where the owners are scared sh*tless that they’re going to get hurt…that’ll knock em down a peg.

It’s the owners choice to lock out the players and not honor the financial end of their contracts. Saying they shouldn’t be allowed to play is like saying you’re banned from finding employment elsewhere if the company you work for closed its doors and forced you to miss work and not get paid.

Funny I think every player should have the right to exactly the opposite. I mean it’s not a strike, it’s a lockout…..by the owners.

Really if anything is going to speed things up, it would be every NHLPA telling the owners that they ALL will play in the KHL during a lockout. Which is the last thing the NHL wants to see.

I believe the players should be able to go make money and stay on their game elsewhere if the owners are unwilling to work with them. Which up to this point, appears to be more the case. I think your second thought is great in a perfect world but that would never fly.

I think players should be banned from participating in any organized league fro the duration of a lockout. Maybe then they would care about getting an agreement done. I also think the rinks should be banned from filling up the arenas when hockey was already slated to the time. Maybe then the owners would care more about an agreement !
