Fehr, most of us remember him from when he almost ruined baseball as the players rep. Antone remeber when the World Series was canceled. Now he is going to try, or ruin hockey this time.

If there is a lockout (it would be the third of Bettman’s tenure), I would want Bettman’s head on a stick if I was an Owner since lockouts lose me money that can never be recouped. Alienating the fans, as Bettman continues to do, is also great for business. I don’t know why the Owners put up with him.

They cancel Thursdays meeting then meet for all of 90 minutes Friday … they seem to think they can bridge the gap between two philosophically different groups in an hour and a half. If Bettman really wanted to get negotiations rolling he’d start things out by offering to give back his $8mil a year salary since according to him the players don’t even deserve to make that much. If they really wanted to avoid a lockout they’d be meeting all day every day and they wouldn’t have waited to negotiate until the 11th hour. Bettman couldn’t care less about the fans.

NHL: Here is our latest proposal
Union: Thank you. We will look it over and get back to you.

Thursday:
Union call to NHL: Nah, no thanks. We will have a counter offer by monday morning.

Monday morning.
Union call to NHL: we just faxed over our latest proposal. Look it over, take your time, no rush. We dont agree on anyrhing but we have time.

How about they meet everyday for more than two hours and get this done already! When was the last time they met for an extended amount of time?!?!

I have this miraculous idea. It’s called “meet every day until you come to an agreement”.

My alternative idea is that a bunch of fans get together and lock them in a room together and tell them that no one goes in or out until they come to an agreement. We’ll give them a buffet and a soda fountain so they don’t starve, but no leaving the room until there’s an agreement on the CBA.

I think I speak for everyone who’s even remotely a hockey fan when I say I am so f***ing tired of hearing about this. Figure it out already. Both sides stand to lose way more if games are missed than they will gain by dragging this out.

Let’s see if you can crack the 2 hour plateau this time! This is ridiculous sit down an talk about the issues like reasonable people and get something worked out. Don’t cancel meetings because that just increases the chance of a lockout. Nobody wants that.

Neither side is acting with a sense of urgency. Truth be told is neither side care that there will be a lockout.
