Two year deal is as fair as it gets for a player who hasn’t hit the 70 game mark since breaking into the league 9 years ago. Considering it’s the Detroit Red Wings and the money is reportedly $2.5 M per for a player coming off of a 19-point season, I would expect Coliacovo to jump all over this deal.

I don’t doubt his heart, but the truth is that the injuries affected his play over the last season. He was never a big hitter, but he was becoming very tentative where contact was involved. I don’t think he and Hitch were on the same page and he was probably trying to protect his health knowing he’d be a free agent. I wish him the best of luck.

Are people forgetting that this is a TWO year deal? Of course there is risk but it’s not like they signed him to a 7 year deal. Smart move by DET.

Exactly, he can only help his value spending a few years learning and playing in the Wings system and then re-enter the market.

detroit dont do it. he’s never and will never play a full season. detroit is just wasting a roster spot. concussion prone and doesnt protect himself on the boards and gets rocked. bite the bullet and get jay bo for consistency.

Big risk but if he stays healthy a big reward. But since there won’t be a season it doesn’t matter.
