A little. If it wasn’t for indoor lacrosse in the hot months, my summer would be ruined waiting for Shane and other free agents. Waiting on free agents is a summer pass time of mine along with alcoholism, hence the free beer request.

“What? You’re offering me four years and $7.5 million a year for my last contract? No thanks. I’ll take $2 million and 2 years”. You know who says that? Nobody. So quit hating on Doan for wanting to pick the best situation and the best contract for himself and his family. You all would do the same, in his situation.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It’d Terry Bross’ job to make Shane Doan valuable, and he’s done a good job of it so far; right now teams may feel the pressure to compete against Buffalo’s ridiculous offer, and Bross has strung them along all summer to the point where Doan is – by a wide margin – the best player left on the market.

Meanwhile, Doan is obviously loyal to the Coyotes franchise and more specifically his ties to the Phoenix area, and given their ownership situation could be resolved he has every right to wait around and see what happens. He’ll do that as long as he can before it stops making any sense to wait around (most likely, the expiry of the current CBA).

I could have done without all the missed deadlines so far, but I really don’t see the point in getting angry about them – the Doan camp doesn’t owe anything to anyone, so none of us are entitled to any kind of timely decision from them.

Just because Doan doesn’t have to go out and email reporters to get his name in the news (like Dan Ellis), doesn’t make him some sort of attention whore.

Doan needs to grow up. If he loves the coyotes as much as he claims he shouldn’t have a problem with moving with the team.
He is a professional athlete, thats what happens.

Danphipps are u simple? Doan isn’t trying to squeeze more money out of Phoenix, he wants to stay and is waiting for Jamison to close the deal to keep the coyotes here. He doesn’t want to sign for 4 yrs and play the last 3 years in another city he can’t choose if they are moved. Not rocket science, figure it out you plug

Seriously. At this point it’s just childish. All Doan and his camp have done all summer is say “We’re really gonna do it, guys!” to every camera they can find to try to pressure more money out of Phoenix. And guess what? After three (or is it four?) missed “deadlines,” Phoenix doesn’t take their posturing seriously. Go figure, nobody believes the boy who cried wolf.
