90s have some charm.

60s/50s/70s yuck...fat kid on the football team, soon to be cut numbers.

80s not great either for hockey.

40s and below...fine

Just personal preference I realize but literally 64 would be the last number I would pick for myself, given a choice, in any sport.

Some numbers are just inherently lame. 64 is one of them.

This is a good decision, Horcoff has been in Edmonton since 2000-01, he's established himself as number 10 over that career, there's no need for a rookie to come in and rock the boat trying to get a number from a player who's worn it since you were 6. Take another number and then if you're so inclined change it to number 10 when Horcoff's days with the Oilers are over.

When I see N64, I have to think Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin have a bunch of N64 lines lined up for him. They'd also have those lines for Mikael Granlund if he wears #64, with even more emphasis on Mario Kart. It's probably the only broadcasting pair in ice hockey that is looney enough to think of such lines, then again that's why us Caps fans love them. (It's like watching a bunch of soccer matches broadcasted by Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson, except with hockey lingo.)

not necessarily, ofcourse theres always gonna be the traditional "D wears single digits" and "goalies wear 1 or thirty something" rules but there are aesthetically pleasing higher numbers

That said, 64 does sound like a camp number, but Im not gonna lie, love the nickname
