EA Sports shares player ratings for NHL 13

Puck Daddy’s Sean Leahy shared team and some player ratings for EA Sports’ NHL 13, with posts for the Eastern and Western Conference.

Feel free to peruse those in greater detail, but here are some observations about a few of the more surprising bits.

Leahy points out that the NHL 13 demo will be available on Xbox Live and Playstation 3 on Aug. 21,* so you can give the game a try then.

(As long as you’re OK with using the Los Angeles Kings and/or New Jersey Devils.)

* – Unless you have a PS3 in Europe. Then you need to wait an extra day.

Crysbys rating should be in the negatives.

    • claysbar - Aug 19, 2012 at 1:42 AM

      Somebody should slap your parents

    • ml3939 - Aug 19, 2012 at 10:04 AM

I am a Flyers fan and you are a turd. Stop being a troll like bobhpine, sjsharks66 and the Pens guy who keeps changing his name. If Crosby were a Flyer, you’d be all over his d&*#.

      • hockeyissweet - Aug 19, 2012 at 10:13 AM

im a flyer fan, and no i would not want crosby on my team. who seriously cries to the refs about too many hats on the ice after a hat trick? hes a whiny little punk, not even worthy of being a flyer.

      • ml3939 - Aug 19, 2012 at 1:03 PM

You are a liar. If the Flyer’s drafted Crosby and you only knew him as a Flyer, averaging 100+ point seasons, you would look the other way or justify his behavior. There is no way you would be calling for the Flyers to trade him or let him walk in free agency.

  2. rallycally - Aug 18, 2012 at 10:43 PM

How is it possible miller has a better rating than Vezna winner king henrik? N Crosby is better than stamkos n malkin. Laughable

    • zach28 - Aug 19, 2012 at 1:13 AM

i know right. the miller rating is ridiculous in my eyes. and lets be honest crosby is at the right ranking. dominated when he played. his last 63 games he had 103 points.

  3. rushledger - Aug 18, 2012 at 11:15 PM

Shut up tool. Malkin should be higher and mike smith should be a lot higher than his 83 from last year.

  4. scottfmullin - Aug 18, 2012 at 11:29 PM

EA must really have something against the Panthers. They’ve made the team’s jerseys look stupid each and every year (especially last year), and now this year they shafted us with the new ratings. How the hell is Brian Campbell an 83 and a guy like Zach Bogosian an 84? Nothing against him, but Campbell was one of the best defensemen in the entire league last year.

    • bluesrawesome - Aug 19, 2012 at 12:07 AM

I know I feel the same way Cambell carried the Panthers d to the playoffs. And he was tied with Dustin Byfuglien for the 2nd most points in the entire NHL for d and yet he’s rated 83?

      • reap17 - Aug 19, 2012 at 8:26 PM

Campbell wasnt the only one that carried the panthers to the playoffs , dont forget about JOSE

  5. meynbass - Aug 18, 2012 at 11:45 PM

Love seeing the devils as the default!!

  6. jhuck92 - Aug 19, 2012 at 12:05 AM

Mike Smith got a better overall rating because of his 99 in diving. That’s the only reason

  7. capsfan19 - Aug 19, 2012 at 1:15 AM

Vokoun an 87? Need i say more?

I will, thank you… ARE YOU SERIOUS? He played such great games but like neuvy would give up rediculous goals. “hey im playing the caps lemme shoot from the blue line” (cue the goal horn)

  8. scionofflame - Aug 19, 2012 at 2:44 AM

You guys also have to realize that this is all factored into the best skill they COULD have. Some players have way higher potential than they displace on the ice. They also specifically said that the standout players (Like Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, Ovechkin, Weber) are more standout by separation.

It’s not like NHL ’12 when your entire team was made of 82-85 overall players. Those are actually pretty exceptional players in the new ratings system.

  9. DTF31 - Aug 19, 2012 at 3:00 AM

Nice to see the ratings are still quite “Has the dev heard this guys name” based.

  10. garryjercia - Aug 19, 2012 at 8:29 AM

Only way Crosby is so much ‘better’ than G is Cindy’s 99 in the ‘one hit away from retirement’ rating.

  11. deadrabbit79 - Aug 19, 2012 at 8:47 AM

Forget the ratings….just enjoy playing the game because it might be the only hockey we get this year.

  12. ravenscaps48 - Aug 19, 2012 at 10:19 AM

The guy who single handedly SHUT DOWN the defending Stanley Cup Champions, Braden Holtby, is the lowest rated Starting Goalie in the game….. Are you kidding me, EA?

    • cardsandbluesforever - Aug 20, 2012 at 1:35 AM

no kidding man, who the hell came up with these ratings? wasnt someone who watches hockey at all.

elliott and halak are an 85 and 80? led the league with the lowest GAA last year and they get rated lower than vokoun who is an 87 ? really?
schwartz a 65? holy crap, dude is at least a 78-79 compared to oshie and perron. Macdonald should be an 84 just like perron and oshie- he’s easily the fastest skater on the team.

Jackman is over rated big time- he should be a 75 at the most. there’s a reason we call him “pylon” around here….

this was what i noticed was WAY off with my team. im sure most of the others are WAY off too..

  13. mdg1985 - Aug 19, 2012 at 10:30 AM

Pavel Datsyuk should have a rating equal to Crosby, as far as skill and talent, he’s the premier video game player..similar to Bo Jackson in tecmo.

    • wingsdjy - Aug 20, 2012 at 12:28 PM

Agreed. Happy to see Datsyuk with a 95. Looks like Ovechkin is 3rd highest with a 93, though that automatically drops in the playoffs :)

  14. jacketsfan7 - Aug 19, 2012 at 11:49 AM

@philly4lyfe I’m gonna say this as a classy penguins fan as nicely as I can possibly say it , Philly has a great team don’t get me wrong , you don’t have to Like us nor do u have to like our players , but the least you should do whether it’s a rivalry is to show at least a little respect for us as we do to you! I’ll admit it giroux is a great player!! Hes not on NHL13 cover by mistake , Philly has great potential for another cup and that attitude is what makes this rivalry great but let’s be honest here , if Crosby was on Philly tomorrow I bet you’d praise the ground he’d walk on , we all would but the least you should do and I’m not saying you have to but plz to show some respect

    • hockeyissweet - Aug 19, 2012 at 1:47 PM

nah, don’t want him on philly. hes a walking, whining concussion. id take malkin, crosby? no way. “”I don’t like them, because I don’t like any guy on their team so.”” great logic sidney, and very “respectful” pens fan. hes a little punk.

      • toxicjuan - Aug 20, 2012 at 11:55 PM

well then aside from phili and pitts, there’s 28 other teams that would take gino and crosby in a heartbeat. as a wild fan, would prefer malkin. dude’s a beast.

    • andyreidisfat - Aug 19, 2012 at 3:27 PM

Gotta be honest with you man, I wouldn’t want Crosby on the Flyers. Crosby because of the dive’s and cheap shots and just whimp that he is. He has great skill and i am sure he does deserve a good rating but I don’t think he is better the Giroux or Stamkos, or even Geno.

Now I would take your goalie lol and i would have loved for the Flyers to snag stall.

    • chrisvegas - Aug 20, 2012 at 2:56 PM

I am a Flyers Fan and I agree with you. It gets annoying when rival fans can’t even be honest when talking about rival players. I hate the Pens, but I respect their talent. I enjoy having intellegent discussions with opposing fans, but it gets annoying when fans can’t see past their hatred and emotions. That being said I think having crosby rated 95 when Malkin, Giroux, Sedins, are 4-5 points lower isn’t accurate in my mind. I can see him rated 1-2 points higher at the best. His durabilty in the game should be very low as well. That is my opinion.

  15. jacketsfan7 - Aug 19, 2012 at 3:56 PM

Who ever said I wanted Crosby on the flyers? I just said flyers would praise the ground he walked on IF he was on Philly just like any hockey fans would do

  16. jacketsfan7 - Aug 19, 2012 at 3:59 PM

@ml3939 any fan would justify Crosby by his behavior for whatever teams he plays for , I’m just asking you to respect him as we respect briere and giroux , plz don’t over think my comments

  17. ml3939 - Aug 19, 2012 at 4:11 PM

@jacketsfan7, none of my comments were aimed at you. If you are looking at this on an iphone, the comments line up in the order they are posted, not necessarily where they are posted. None of my comments are intended for you. We are on the same exact page as far as this topic is concerned. If you look on a regular computer you will see my comments line up with philly4lyfe and hockeyissweet’s comments.

Oh sorry and yes I’m looking at this on an IPhone I didn’t know

  19. phillyphan83 - Aug 19, 2012 at 5:41 PM

MAF an 87??? yeah maybe 3 years ago

    • sportsfreak13 - Aug 19, 2012 at 7:39 PM

He had 42 wins last year with a 2.36 GAA and a .913 save %. What rank would you give him?

      • ravenscaps48 - Aug 20, 2012 at 12:48 AM

        An 86?

      • phillyphan83 - Aug 20, 2012 at 1:03 PM

all the pens fans talk about how bad bryz is yet MAF was worse than him in the playoffs so what would YOU give him?? I think 82 is more like it. (5 points is a big difference, imagine if he was a 92 instead of 87)

      • sportsfreak13 - Aug 20, 2012 at 2:13 PM

So your logic is judge him entirely off the 6 games in the playoffs and throw out the other 67 games he played? I would give him a 87. Yes he was bad in the playoffs and so was bryz by the way. The difference is in the regular season fleury could of been the teams MVP (his teammates have said this) where as bryz could of been the scapegoat.

  20. cosmoandmelovepens - Aug 20, 2012 at 2:25 PM

I’m fukin sick of philly fans. Talk to me when giroux wins something of importance f u guys.

    • sportsfreak13 - Aug 20, 2012 at 2:33 PM

o but didnt you see. He got the cover for EA sports NHL 2013. (read in a sarcastic voice)

    • chrisvegas - Aug 20, 2012 at 3:19 PM

You think Pens fans are that much better? Both sides have babbling idiots. Show some class.

  21. cosmoandmelovepens - Aug 20, 2012 at 3:35 PM

I see 3-4 retards that just say how Crosby sucks. I know that we also have idiots but on this site It was mainly that one troll with 10 usernames talking to himself. But I think he got his ip banned thank god. But I think it should go malkin 95 Crosby datzuk and giroux 94 then stamkos 93 then ovechkin and sedans tied at like 91. But with the updated ratings weekly it may largely fluctuate based on the players season.

  22. jacketsfan7 - Aug 20, 2012 at 6:55 PM

As a pens fan I’d give bryz an 86 while he was better than maf in the playoffs flower bloomed all year long with 42 wins , bryz was good enough just not great , he could improve on some ratings but so can flower

  23. arysoh - Aug 20, 2012 at 8:10 PM

I don’t even know where to begin ….. These are the worst ratings for players ever by EA. These guys are high on crystal meth. The only thing as an Islander fan I have going for me is Jonathan Tavares, 81 points, 31 goals, 50 assists. Last year he was an 87 and now he is an 85. 7th overall in scoring and he decreases in rating. Nash and Richards both with neither as many goals or assists are rated an 87. Come on now, how the f are you rating these players???????

  24. cosmoandmelovepens - Aug 20, 2012 at 9:00 PM

Calm down. Of course big money teams are gonna have higher ratings. Can you honestly tell me canucks are that good compared to the penguins. It is all biased opinion.
