Sorry I missed that, Mike. You’re right about the title. Something non-ambiguous like “VP of Fan Relations” might be better. In college I having a beer with a friend who was excited to get a job at the university, and I asked him exactly where he would be working. He said “In the Tax Department”, and I said “Like thumb tacks?”. He missed the humor, and I think was a little insulted.

Um, that was actually a joke directed at Andreychuk’s amusing job title — Vice President of Fans — and a play on the fact that a fan is both someone that attends a sporting match and something that keep you cool. That’s it.

There’s always an ignorant cheap shot at Tampa Bay fan coming from somewhere. Why does someone look down upon anyone that chooses not to dedicate our off-work hours going to “all” the home games (and sitting for 3+ hrs, after driving an hour to the arena, after sitting for most of the day at work). In spite of such lousy fans, Tampa Bay was still 13th overall attendance last season (http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance). Not bad for warm weather team in a mediocre year. We go to our share of home games, but many of us, including myself and my son, often choose to play hockey (yes, ice hockey) given the choice (unless it’s the playoffs) when we have a game or practice scheduled, probably even harder for you to believe. We even have electricity for the rink and propane for the Zamboni.
