Willie Mitchell takes the Cup atop a mountain

Aug 13, 2012, 9:08 PM EDT

Willie Mitchell made the most of his day with the Stanley Cup, which you can read about here, here and here.

Sometimes pictures tell a better story, as Phillip Pritchard (aka “The Keeper of the Cup”) shares on Twitter.

The best stuff comes from Mitchell’s visit to Mt. Benedict, BC.

As a bonus, Los Angeles Kings goalie coach Bill Ranford provides the adorable quotient, allowing youngsters to drink lemonade from the Cup:

Does anyone know WHEN doughty and carter are bringing the cup to London?

There’s a “Where’s the Cup” app that is pretty good at tracking where the Cup will be. Download it or check out their website

Claude lemeiux, Colorado Avalanche cup team, I remember him on Howard Stern about his day with the cup. No way my mouth touches anything that even touches that cup, these are hockey players…….

Just leave it on top of the mountain as it wont be needed next season with the lockout

Debbie could be right. The small market owners need money, so changing the contract is a must.

Try Mount Waddington, close enough I guess.

He also took it to the First Nations Big House, I believe its the first time the stanley cup has ever been in a Big House.

The Shawinigan Cataractes players think he should toss the cup off the sound of the mountain…

Awesome pictures. Some of the best I’ve ever seen of the Cup.

    GO WILLIE GO !!!

After being sent to the scrap heap by Mike ‘Einstein” Gillis, to then hoisting the Stanley Cup as “World Champion” only three years later, this friends is without a doubt the “true” definition of redemption ! … not to mention the fact that Mitchell was such a “huge” part of our team. So yes Willie, it was fitting that you took the Cup to the heavens, because that’s where we LA Kings and fans currently reside !

ps: by the way, I’ve got a feeling that we’re going to be there for a while … 😉
